The Flux softshell is impressively weatherproof considering its extremely light weight (197g, size 8). It packs down small enough to easily stash in a backpack, which makes it ideal for protecting against unexpected showers or if the temperature drops. You may want something a little heavier-duty if you plan on riding in a downpour all day though. Thanks to the tailored fit (you wouldn’t want to squeeze much more than a couple of thin layers underneath) and the buttoned flap to stow away the hood, it doesn’t blow up like a balloon on the downhills. The sleeves are tight over the forearms though, and while this doesn’t affect comfort while riding too much, it does make taking it on and off over a chunky watch a bit of a faff.
