With a similar design and feel to the Specialized Boomslangs, the Emulators are subject to many of the same criticisms. The CNC-machined platform is a little small for larger feet and the raised housing for the oversized bearing can get in the way when you’re putting your foot back on after a dab. We’d prefer a wider body or longer axle, to give a broader stance. The pins are only 4mm tall, but, with four positioned along the leading edge, traction isn’t an issue until the trail gets really rough, even though the platform only has 0.5mm of concavity. Proper 2mm Allen bolt heads make the pins easy to fit and remove. Inside, the chromoly axle spins on one large bearing at the crank end and a thick, high-load DU bushing at the other, which should mean pretty good long-term durability. www.greenoversports.com
