Not only are these pedals designed and made in the UK, they’re also the cheapest on test, which is impressive even before we mention their vicelike grip. They come supplied with a big box of pins, the larger of which (7mm) are so aggressive that they don’t fully stick into your shoes. This leaves your feet held slightly above the platforms, making it easy to flip a pedal if you unweight your foot accidently. (Running smaller pins at the back reduces this problem). The big platform offers excellent support, although it’s a shame that the axle bulge is taller than the edges. With no chamfering on the outer edge, it’s easy to catch a pedal on trail obstacles. Thankfully, it’s easy to replace any damaged pins, because they taper slightly and screw in from underneath with hammer-fist-proof 3mm Allen heads. www.superstarcomponents.com
