LOCATION DETAILS
Snowdonia o ers lots of extreme, technical mountain biking, from summiting Snowdon itself to the purpose-built trails of Coed y Brenin and Antur Stiniog. There are some great, less challenging rides out in the wilds too though, like this one.
GETTING THERE
Our route starts by the old power station on the shores of Trawsfynydd Lake, o the A470, south of Llan Ffestiniog and north of Coed y Brenin. It’s signposted from the main road, with the car park on the right.

FACILITIES
There’s a cafe at the start/finish (Canolfan a Ca Prysor, 01766 540780). Trawsfynydd village, shortly before the end of the ride, has a shop, and the Llys Ednowain Hostel (01978 759603). Other accommodation options include the Mostyn Cottage log cabins, down the road in Coed y Brenin (01341 440277, http://mostyncottage.co.uk), and Old Skool MTB B&B, just o the A470 (01766 540949, www.old skool-mtb.co.uk). For spares or repairs, the Beics Brenin bike shop at the Coed y Brenin visitor centre is good (01341 440728, www.beicsbrenin.co.uk).
