LOCATION DETAILS
This chalk escarpment in southern England covers 833km2, most of which is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The terrain is characterised by rolling hills and beech woodland, which is home to superb singletrack. Navigation is di cult though, and the trails can su er in winter.
GETTING THERE
From Henley-on-Thames, head north on the A4155. Turn left just after the marina, following the signs to Hambleden. The car park is on the left, just past the last of the houses. From the north, leave the M40 at junction 5 and park at Cowleaze Wood to join the route halfway around.

Early in the ride, you’ll pass The Frog at Skirmett pub/restaurant (01491 638996, www.thefrogatskirmett.co.uk). You’ll also go by The Bull & Butcher pub in Turville twice (01491 638283, www.thebullandbutcher.com). Nearby are the Fox Country Inn in Ibstone (01491 638814, www. foxcountryinn.co.uk) and The Chequers Inn in Fingest (01491 638335, http://thechequersfingest.co.uk).
