Six Six One Reset helmet £69.99

-

Six Six One’s Reset full-face is kind on your wallet as well as your head. Despite the low price, it still manages to feel and fit like a much pricier lid. Thanks in part to the lightweight ABS shell and numerous vents and exhaust ports, the Reset weighs just 1,020g, making it lighter than both our benchmark downhill lid, the Troy Lee Designs D3 Carbon, and its more affordable counterpart, the Fiberlite. There are a whopping seven sizes available using three different shells, and in use ours was reassuringly secure and true to size, with no movement or annoying pressure points, even after prolonged use. The padding is comfortable and removable, making it easy to freshen up after a day in the mud or a sweaty ride. We like the style and the way the chin guard doesn’t stick out too far from your face, bolstering the feeling of safety. All the goggles we tried fitted well and the adjustable peak is simple to set where you want it. Ventilation isn’t this helmet’s strong point, but for park laps and DH runs it’s more than adequate. Our only, small gripe is that once you’ve passed the strap through the D-ring closure it’s not easy to secure the loose end. Our test sample didn’t have MIPS, but a version with the brain protection system will be released in the new year. Luke www.hotlines-uk.com
