USE’s distinctive, super-light, jigsawstyle stem is now much more secure. The broad, single-piece, CNC-machined exoskeleton forms a double ‘U’ loop that hooks round the front of the bar and the back of the stem like a solid O-ring. You then slide the composite wedge body into the space between the bar and the fork steerer. When you tighten the two clamp bolts, it expands to lock everything securely (when it only had one bolt, it could slip). The only downside is having to really wrestle it open to make slight bar adjustments. Despite a weight of only 110g it’s usefully stiff, and looks neat, with no protruding bolts to catch knees.
