Mountain Biking UK

woody’s bike park

-

It may be just a stone’s throw from the M5, but this woodland mountain bike sanctuary succeeds in making you feel like you’ve been transported to deepest, darkest Cornwall. There are several waymarked trails, as well as some o -piste singletrack if you know where to look. The red-graded Ridge Ride begins with a flat and then downhill section, at odds with most UK trail centres. It’s great fun, but make sure you’re warmed up first – you can do this in the skills area by the car park.

the trails ES OL/BLUE JUMP 1km

Fully rollable, with mellow jumps and bermed corners, these two trails are great for beginners or anyone wanting to dabble in a bit of wheels-o -theground action.

DIRT WAVE/RED DH/ GRANITE GARDEN 0.2-1km

All the gaps on Dirt Wave are still rollable, but the jumps are bigger and faster than those on the blue trails. Red DH and Granite Garden are more natural in style, taking a straighter line down the hill, with o -cambers, steep gullies and some burly granite rock gardens.

TWISTED SISTER/ VALLEY OF THE BONES 0.6km

The mandatory gaps on Twisted Sister make it a serious undertaking, with the largest double measuring a beefy 45ft across! Valley of the Bones is the closest thing Woody’s has to a DH track. A road gap and some rough manmade rock gardens will definitely rattle your bones.

DIGGER 0.6km

The main man on the tools at Woody’s is Jasper Flashman and his freestyle motocross roots show here. You’ve got to strap on your gnarly boots for this one, because the jumps are all tall and long, and require you to carry lots of speed. Adrenaline and airtime by the bucketload.
