Route summary An easy ride out into the Cairngorms, using 4x4 tracks throughout, keeping it safe and ideally suited to less experienced riders. Just watch out for the small burn (stream) crossings! Start/ inish Glen Tilt car park, Blair Atholl (grid ref NN 874/662, postcode PH15 5TP)

Go back up to the road, by the house, and turn left on the tarmac, then bear right at a fork, across the open to a track crossing, and head right. Start climbing, keeping left to pass by the farm, and continue to ascend steadily up lower Glen Tilt. Keep left at another fork and climb past a shooting range, out onto the moor, to join alongside Allt Slanaidh (lake).

Pass some grouse butts and through a few burn crossings, but nothing too di cult, until you eventually leave the stream and come to a junction over the hill, at a valley. Go left at this, drop into the valley and head left down it, alongside Allt Sheicbeachan, on a good 4x4 track.

Continue downhill to the bothy, where you cross the water and follow the track south (uphill) and cross the moor, with numerous grouse butts along the way. The track runs parallel to the Allt an t-Seapail and then crosses a hill to drop into another valley and join alongside the Banvie Burn.

Stay parallel to this burn, keeping it close on your right, and it delivers you back to the track crossing near the start of the ride. Keep straight ahead to retrace your tracks back to the car park to finish.
