Route summary A superb variety of trails, from remote moorland crossings to technical rocky descents and even some lowing manmade sections, plus it holds up well in the wet Start/ inish Woodcroft car park, Longshaw Estate (grid ref SK 267/801, postcode S11 7TY)

Turn right out of the car park, on the A6187. Ride for 0.5km then turn sharply left on the A625 towards She eld. After 0.9km turn right on a bridleway, pass through a gate onto the open moors and follow the trail until it meets a wider track/T-junction and bear left on this.

After nearly 1km, turn left at a junction and head through a gate on a singletrack bridleway around the hillside. Descend to the bottom and continue through another gate. Bear left, ascend across the grass, which becomes a better trail, until you near a road and small car park.

Go right on the bridleway parallel to the road. Ignore the first bridleway on the right (although it is worth riding if you don’t mind the detour) and pass through the gate, left. Drop downhill, then go right at the T-junction, on a rooty descent. Turn left at the track crossing in Shorts Lane, bearing left. This becomes tarmac. Keep ahead to a crossroads and go right.

Follow the road right, up to the A625, and go right, then take the first left, Sheephill Road. After 0.5km go left through a gate on a bridleway. Keep ahead at the track crossing, over the moors and alongside Lady Canning’s Plantation. Turn right at the crossroads, ride into the woods and join an MTB trail.

At the end of the trail keep left to the car park and left on the road to a T-junction by a pub. Go left then right (Fulwood Lane). Follow the road, keeping left at the forks until a T-junction with Brown Hills Lane. Turn left on this and left at the next T-junction beside Redmires Reservoir.

Bear right on the track past a barrier at the end of the reservoir. Climb across the moor, past Stanage Pole. When the trail bears right, peel o left to the cli edge. Follow the trail down Stanage Edge, keeping ahead/right on the track at the bottom, to the car park. Go left on the road and left at the T-junction. Past another car park, make a left at the T-junction.

Keep ahead/left at the top, joining the road ahead/left, then shortly, as the road bears left, cross it to join a track straight ahead, cutting the corner. Go through the car park at the far end and rejoin the road, right, to a layby on the right after the bend. Join the new bridleway here.

Follow this track, keeping ahead to the A6187. Cross the road to continue on the trail opposite, bearing left to and across the B6521. Proceed right then left, back into the Longshaw Estate. The car park (to finish) is o the path to the left just along here.
