NEW BIKE PARK FOR BATH

-

We were excited to hear the news that Pedal Progression, the guys behind the trails and bike shop at Ashton Court in Bristol, are developing a new bike park on the edge of Bath, at the former Entry Hill golf course – especially as it’s on the doorstep for a couple of the MBUK team.

Working with Architrail Velosolutions UK, they plan to create some 5km of trails on the beautiful 30-acre site overlooking the historic city. Their proposals include an asphalt pump track, multiple dirt jump lines, a dual slalom track, a full range of graded trails, a skills area and a learn-toride area – sounds ideal to us.

The venue will be pay-to-ride, to cover ongoing trail maintenance costs and to help fund work with schools and other community groups to open up mountain biking to people who might not otherwise have the opportunity to experience it. However, the beginners’ area will be free, as will a multi-use area of the park including a perimeter green trail for families, dog walkers, runners and other users.

There’ll also be a cafe and a bike shop with hire and coaching, plus a play park, community garden and picnic area, so you’ll be able to bring along non-riding friends and family, too. Having laid out their plans and won the tender process, it’s now full steam ahead for Pedal Progression. They aim to get Bath Bike Park up and running come spring 2022, with the cafe hopefully opening this summer. Expect us to be among the first there!
