Route summary A fun ride across the moors with some challenging trails and remote sections, but nothing too dif icult or dangerous. The tracks stand up well, but are best saved for good weather because you’re exposed and will miss the views.

Start/ inish Princetown visitor centre car park (postcode PL20 6QQ, grid ref SX 589/736)

1

Exit the car park and turn right to a mini roundabout, then go straight ahead on a bridleway by The Plume of Feathers. Once on the moors, keep going for 2.9km to a track crossing with a stone marker. Turn right here.

2

Follow the wide, rocky track downhill for nearly 3km. Ignore a track on your right and keep left, downhill, for another 1km to a car park at the bottom, by the reservoir. Turn left on the road here and after 700m go left on a bridleway.

3

Go through a gate to a T-junction and turn sharply right on a narrow path into the woods. Keep ahead at the clearing, onto a track. Bear right, downhill to a road, and turn left. At the road T-junction turn right, joining the side of the reservoir and crossing the dam wall. Then turn right on the far side. 4

A little way along this road, turn sharp left on a ‘cycle path’, uphill. Bear right at the top, along an old railway line. Keep ahead on this track, crossing minor roads, then take a footbridge over the B3212.

5

Follow this more obvious track, ignoring the bridleways o it and passing around King’s Tor. Stay on it all the way to Princetown, turning right at the road, back to the car park.
