MBUK’S MONTH

The highs & lows of life on the mag

-

Tom Pidcock blew us away with his performance at this year’s first XC World Cup in Germany, overtaking 70 riders to finish fifth! We thought nothing could top that, but then he raced to victory at round two in the Czech Republic – making him the first British man to win an XC World Cup since Gary Foord in 1994. Incredible riding from Tom! By the time you read this, we’ll have welcomed Will Soffe as our staff writer. You may recognise Will’s name from his MBUK features on forks and wheel size, his skills coaching or his time as a World Cup mechanic. The proud owner of one of the most recognisable moustaches in MTBing, he’s going to be a useful addition to the team! The trails in our neck of the woods are running prime right now. We’re looking forward to riding some of the new ones featured in this month’s Out Front and next issue’s trail guide supplement, too. The Fort Bill World Cup may not have taken place, but worldclass riding is still coming to Scotland, in the form of the Enduro World Series Tweed Valley, which returns to Innerleithen in October for the first time in six years. Can’t wait! Not many lows this month, other than the ongoing struggle to get hold of enough new bikes and kit. It must be a nightmare if you’re trying to buy a bike in the current market. Oh, and JCW’s in a grump because he put a hole in his rear tyre and (a) didn’t have any tyre plugs on him, and (b) sprayed tubeless goo all over his new shorts, which won’t come out. Any washing tips? Send them to the usual address!
