RIDERS VS RUBBISH

The short but successful history of Trash Free Trails

-

Former Surfers Against Sewage sta er Dom Ferris set up TFT in 2017 to bring the same philosophy of ‘getting people together to protect the great outdoors’ to the trails. It’s gone from an Instagram page to a full-scale non-profit with backing from major brands including Trek and Bosch, and a bold aim to reduce litter in our wild places by 75 per cent by 2025. In the past six months, TFT have achieved a huge amount. They’ve mobilised more #TRASHMOB volunteers than ever and held their biggest Spring Trail Clean yet, with a staggering 30,356 pieces of single-use waste collected. With the support of Forestry England, Endura and Pedal MTB, they’ve also been able to recruit more A-TEAM ambassadors. The TrashMob Academy has been expanded – a scheme that combines MTBing with environmental action and trail stewardship to improve confidence and wellbeing in young people. On top of all that, they’ve published their debut State of the Trails Report and held their first summit, with delegates travelling from across the UK to talk trash. Round up your mates and get involved!
