Recent rain made me keen to ride something exciting before summer ends. I’d considered the Coleridge Way (50 miles from Somerset to North Devon) but couldn’t work out a legally ridable version. Instead, I did a 50-mile circular near Porlock on Exmoor. The coastal path here runs atop high cliffs, and feeling the lash of sea squalls as I watched a pod of dolphins playing below was amazing. I wanted to see how far I could get on one charge (about 40 miles). When the battery died, I put it in my pack and rode back in ‘analogue’ mode. www.lapierrebikes.com
