German brand Beast say their latest bar is “the lightest carbon fibre handlebar to have passed the toughest industry test in the world” and claim it’s suitable for everything from XC to downhill – a bold claim. Weighing just 193g, our test bar certainly is light (31.8mm clamp, 25mm rise, black UD finish, cut down from 800mm to 750mm). It comes with loads of instructions and even a sachet of assembly paste – a neat touch. This bar isn’t just about saving weight, though – each one is handmade in Germany and Beast claim the carbon construction is tuned to provide “a balance of flexibility, vibration damping and robustness to ensure precise steering response”. If you’re after a bar that’s light enough for XC but strong enough for DH, and have deep pockets, this might turn out to be the one for you.
