AN INSPIRATION IN MORE WAYS THAN ONE

When Martyn Ashton and his mate Martin Hawyes hit the MTB trials scene in 1993, they inspired a generation of riders with their jaw-dropping stunts in MBUK, entertaining videos (remember Dirty Tricks & Cunning Stunts?) and popular demo shows. Hugely influential, Martyn also became Expert world champ in 1995 and won several British titles. He constantly pushed himself to nail new tricks, culminating in 2012’s Road Bike Party video, where he performed trials moves on a drop-bar bike, attracting a mainstream audience (nearly 14 million YouTube views). Ironically it was a much simpler move that led to his life-changing injury during a demo in 2013.
