SUPPORT ACTS

BEHIND EVERY GREAT HERO STANDS A MUM, DAD, BROTHER OR SISTER

-

Many of these big names wouldn’t have risen to the top without incredible support from family members. Stevie Smith’s

mum Tianna, a single parent of two, religiously shuttled her son up 2,585ft Mount Prevost in BC so he could race down (in half the time it took her in the car!) and hone the skills that’d see him win the DH World Cup series and become a national hero. The Athertons wouldn’t be where they are today without eldest brother Dan leading the way and being the glue that held the trio together. Dad Simon drove them around, and mum Andrea even allowed them to build an indoor ramp in her home! Jason McRoy’s dad Jim quit his job to support his son on the World Cup circuit, with mum Rose’s blessing. Tracy Moseley’s

brother Ed got her into the sport, while parents Michael and Alison drove them to races. Tracy now mentors young riders through her T-Mo Racing team. Thanks to mountain biking parents, a new generation of heroes are coming through, like Jackson

Goldstone. He shot to fame with a balance bike vid aged three and is now topping the podium as a Junior World Cup racer. None of this would have happened without his parents Ron and Miriam getting him and his sister Bailey stoked on two wheels.
