ED’S YT JEFFSY CORE 3 29 £3,749 + P&P
Stoked to be back riding after an injury, Ed is making the most of his time with the Jeffsy
My YT has collected a lot of dust recently. Not that good ‘summer trails’ dust, but the sort that accumulates when you’re laid up with an injury, as well as renovating your house. A snapped finger tendon (from my other obsession, rock climbing) has kept me off the bike for a good while – and I seem to have timed my comeback perfectly with the onset of winter!
I’ve not missed the mammoth kitcleaning sessions, but a bit of time off really has renewed my appreciation for how fun it is to be slipping around in the woods again, as well as breathing new life into the laps of the Forest of Dean I’ve ridden a thousand times. I’ve not made the switch to mud spikes yet, as the Maxxis Assegai I’m running up front is pretty solid in the slop, but I have dropped a few psi out of the Fox 36 Performance Elite fork and DPX2 Performance Elite shock – both to suit the slower, softer conditions and my marked drop in pace! I’m confident that’ll pick up with a few more rides, and surprised that I didn’t feel more like a fish out of water.
Part of that is down to the Jeffsy being such an easy bike to jump on and ride. Being content to take it a bit easier has made me appreciate that YT have put together a really solid set-up for a wide range of UK riding. It’s when I want to push things harder that I start to grumble about the slightly conservative sizing and a head angle that’s on the steeper side, but for now, eking out every second from a track is not what I’m about, and probably isn’t what everyone wants from a trail ride. www.yt-industries.com
