The 2022 Enduro World Series looks set to see the Rude vs Moir battle reignite and hungry young Brits ascend the women’s ranks

-

Last year’s Enduro World Series saw some incredible action, with established heroes demonstrating why they’re at the top and some fresh faces challenging the status quo. We spoke to commentator extraordinaire (and ex-MBUK staffer) Ric McLaughlin to get his predictions for 2022...

“The 2021 EWS will be hard to top, with a completely wide-open Pro Women’s class and the ‘Jack Moir versus Richie Rude’ show in the Pro Men’s. But as travel opens back up, we have some amazing new venues and some returning classics to look forward to. For the first time, we’re going back-to-back on the USA’s East Coast. The border-hopping Petzen/ Jamnica European round is reinstated, Whistler returns and the Trophy of Nations team event is back, too. I’m predicting tighter racing up and down the Pro ranks, with bodies and bikes being pushed to their limits.”

Sadly, the first three rounds in Tasmania and New Zealand will not go ahead due to COVID concerns. Don’t despair, though, because organiser Chris Ball and the team have ensured there’s still an action-packed season to look forward to. Kicking off on 4-5 June in the Tweed Valley, Scotland, the series has three European rounds, including an e-bike-only race in Valberg, France, before heading to North America for three rounds. It then returns to Europe for rounds in Switzerland and the finale in France, before the Enduro des Nations team event in Italy.

“I’M PREDICTING TIGHTER RACING UP AND DOWN THE PRO RANKS WITH BODIES AND BIKES BEING PUSHED TO THEIR LIMITS”
