FIT A HANGERLESS SRAM T-TYPE TRANSMISSION

-

Install the crankset and cassette on your bike as per usual, along with the AXS pod controller, which attaches to the bar in the same way as a conventional gear shifter. Charge the AXS battery and remove the bike’s Universal Derailleur Hanger – remember the reverse thread! Clean the frame’s Hangerless Interface (the hole left by the UDH).

Remove the mounting bolt and Bushing Frame Insert from the mech with an 8mm Allen key. Clean the frame’s Hangerless Interface and insert the bushing from the outside (non-wheel side), with the lipped edge facing out. Don’t use grease. Ensure that the knurled ring inside the mech’s mounting point is rotated fully clockwise.

Shorten the chain, using the table at www.sram. com or the app to determine the correct length, based on your bike’s chainstay length and chainring size. Install the chain over the correct Setup Cog, with the flat side facing away from the centre of the cassette. Join the chain using the PowerLock quick-link provided.

Ensure the rear axle and mounting bolt have been loosened by one turn, the mech is in the correct Setup Key and in Cage Setup mode, the chain is on the correct Setup Cog, the PowerLock link is closed and the suspension uncompressed. Pull back on the cage to remove any slack and rotate the cranks twice. Tighten the mounting bolt to 35Nm.

Use the buttons on the pod controller and rear mech to pair them, following the instructions at www.sram.com. Then pair them with the AXS app. Ensure the mech’s cage is in the correct Setup Key position, referring to the app. Shift into the correct Setup Cog – check www.sram.com to see whether that’s the sixth or seventh sprocket on your bike.

Slide the mech into place over the Hangerless Interface. Grease the mounting bolt and install it from the outside. Tighten until snug, then loosen it by one full turn. Set the mech to its extended position, by pushing it forward and using the Cage Lock button to hold it in place. Install the wheel. Tighten the axle, then loosen it by one full turn.

Push the mech cage forward to release it from its extended position. Reposition it so the Cage Mode button locks into the Cage Setup position. Use chain-link pliers to connect the PowerLock (or apply the rear brake and push down on one pedal until you hear the two sides of the link snap into place).

Check the knurled ring aligns with the mark on the mounting point. If not, loosen the bolt, rotate the ring and repeat step seven. Tighten the rear axle. Put the cage into Ride Mode, by rotating it forward and releasing it. Turn the cranks and shift up and down to check performance. Use MicroAdjust (see www.sram.com) to tune the shifting.
