Fun at the top of the world – Mt Buller

Mt Buller News - - FRONT PAGE -

WELCOME to winter 2018 at Mt Buller and Mt Stirling.

Mt Buller Mt Stirling chief executive officer Mark Bennetts said this week it had been a busy summer working on a number of exciting updates around the resorts.

“It’s not long now until we throw the doors open and invite the Mansfield community and visitors from afar to join us for what will no doubt be another huge snow season,” said Mark.

“We invite you all to join us on Mt Buller this opening weekend to celebrate the official start of the season - there’s a huge program of events planned including a full schedule of free family activity in the Mt Buller Village Square from 3:30pm through until 7pm.

“A range of improvements have been made around both resorts to enhance the visitor experience and ensure continuous improvement at Mt Buller and Mt Stirling,” Mark said.

“On Mt Buller, infrastructure works have been undertaken including resurfacing of key roads and car parks to improve guest amenity; new outdoor seating at the Horse Hill Snowplay Park; new staircases, footpaths and lighting improvements, as well as roadside drainage works to improve safety and amenity.

“In a move that will see guests make considerable savings on their snow holiday, a new pricing structure has been introduced for resort entry and parking fees and valet (taxi) fares.”

Guests to Mt Buller will be able to save a massive 20 per cent when they pre-book resort entry and parking fees online, plus taxi fares are now up to 60 per cent cheaper than 2017 when all are purchased online prior to arrival.

As well as these savings, midweek overnight parking fees have been heavily reduced, with a saving of up to $20 per night.

“On Mt Stirling, things just keep getting better, and 2018 sees several improvements around the resort to improve the visitor experience and ensure Mt Stirling maintains its reputation as the place for authentic alpine adventure: a new mid-mountain snowcam; works at Fork Creek Trail to improve snow holding and access during low snow conditions; and a new weather station at Weather Station Ramble,” Mark said.

“The ever-popular Mt Stirling Café continues to warm the bellies of adventurers with delicious coffee and food from opening weekend, and the wonderful ‘Locals Thursday’ offer will continue all season with free resort entry extended to residents of the Mansfield Shire on presentation of a valid driver’s licence.

“These enhancements at Mt Stirling follow the installation of a micro-hydroelectricity system that is a first for a Victorian alpine resort - the entire resort is powered by hydroelectricity, and we’re very proud to be able to use solely renewable energy at Mt Stirling.

“We look forward to seeing you here on top of the world.”
