Chamber meets for pre-season dinner
MT BULLER Chamber of Commerce held its annual pre-season meeting and dinner recently at the Ski Club of Victoria.
President of the chamber Socrates Pilipasidis (Sox) said the meeting was very positive with several items of importance being discussed.
Among those were the new model of governance for Alpine resorts, including cost savings for resorts and the forward booking numbers.
“The forward booking numbers for this season so far are looking great and it has helped having Buller Holidays on board to help with those enquiries,” he said.
“Bookings are well in front from the same time last year and this is a big positive for both Mansfield and Buller,” he said.
“Operators have got more confidence also with the increase in snowmaking and grooming attracting more visitors early to the mountain.
“Business is looking positive for this season but until it gets under way and we get snowfall you can’t tell what will happen.”
The annual dinner gives operators the chance to catch up prior to the season starting as once visitors arrive there is not a lot of time to socialise.
