Connor an eight year veteran on Buller

Mt Buller News - - FRONT PAGE -

NAME: Connor Fyfe.

AGE: 16 years old.

Where do you live?

South Australia.

Do you ski or snowboard? Ski. What level skills do you have? I would classify myself as an intermediate to expert skier - I enjoy skiing more difficult runs but definitely do not feel completely confident when the conditions aren’t perfect.

How long have you been visiting Mt Buller? I started visiting Mt Buller back in 2010, meaning I’ve been coming up every year for about eight years. I started coming up here with a school group but eventually just started visiting independently when the school moved on because I loved the mountain so much. Adelaide,

What are you looking forward to the most this season? If I get another chance to come up, I definitely would love to see the Pond Skim. I heard about some of the amazing entries last year and would love to be around for it this year.

Do you ski anywhere else? I used to ski at Mt Hotham as a child with my family until I started coming up to Buller with my school. I’ve also skied in Austria and Japan, both of which were incredible, and I would highly recommend visiting. While the snow in those places may be better, nothing beats the familiarity of the mountain that I have in coming to Mt Buller.

What’s your Favourite Run on Buller? If I had to choose, I would have to say Men’s Downhill. It’s always so quiet, and when the snow is good, the run is absolutely magnificent. Even when the conditions are less than favourable, the run is definitely a welcome challenge and always gives me ideas about how I can improve my form and technique. The moguls give my legs a run for their money.

Favourite Apres venue and why? While my Apres Ski adventures are somewhat limited due to my age, I would say that Alpine Retreat is the place to go for a great time. The open mic nights are especially fantastic; everyone has a sing-along, a dance, and just a blast overall.
