Yak Ale Pond Skim National Championships 2019 almost here

-

THERE are no lead ups, no training, no qualifying rounds, just give it a crack – do it, do it, is the advice for entrants competing in the elite fourth-and-a-half annual Yak Ales Pond Skim National Championships at Mt Buller.

This year another line up of skimmers will take on the famous Mt Buller pond on Bourke Street on September 21 and 22 in elaborate costumes.

The Yak Ales Pond Skim National Championships involves skiers and boarders attempting to make it across a pond built into the snow while being cheered on by an enthusiastic crowd.

Despite being recognised as the National Championships, you don’t actually need to follow an athlete pathway from your local pond skimming club, through the state league, to reach national glory.

Custom music tracks for your run can be played by the DJ!

Following historical tradition since time immemorial in 2015, all competitors (18+) receive 2x Yak Ales drink cards for the Yak Ales Official Pond Skim National Championships Après Party.

Note the use of the word “après” which means after you compete.

Don’t drink before you skim.

Registrations are online and fancy dress is a must.

Enter as an individual or as a team – but give it a go!
