THE 2015/16 Wangaratta and District cricket season is over for Bright and Ovens Valley United junior teams.

Unfortunately the local teams didn’t end the year the way they would have liked two weeks ago with all five teams losing their final round matches.

Ovens Valley United’s under 12s put in a good performance against the second placed Rovers United Bruck Red but came up short.

Nicholas Blesser (18 not out), Tom Sparks (13) and Marcello Vescio (13) finished their seasons well with the bat helping their team to 8/111.

In response RUBR made 3/131, Monique Martin, Toby Cossor and Sparks were the only wicket takers for the young Tigers.

Bright’s under 12s were no match for third placed Greta Milawa in their match at Wandiligong.

Mikka Paulsen, Ethan Barrett and Ethan White were the Bright bowlers to grab wickets.

Bright then batted again and were 5/43 when the match ended.

Ovens Valley United’s under 14s also went down.

GOOD SEASON: Bright’s under 12 cricketers unfortunately finished their season off with a loss at Wandiligong but there was plenty of improvement throughout the year and some strong performances as the season went on.
