Demons tumble to fourth place CRICKET

Myrtleford Times - - SPORT -

DEDERANG has slipped from second to fourth on the Cricket Albury Wodonga district ladder after losing to Barnawartha Chiltern and will now face Kiewa in a semi-final matchup this weekend.

Missing captain Andrew Creamer the Demons were unable to chase down the required 193 in their round 10 encounter with the Miners.

After finding themselves 6/27 things did get better for the Demons as Cameron Gregg (37), and Ben Greer (29) and then Josh McNeil (37) all dug deep.

When Gregg and McNeil were at the crease the Demons were still a chance but when McNeil fell at 143 Gregg shortly followed, bringing an end to the innings.

With plenty of overs still left in the day the Miners batted again and were all out for 113 with Blake Nikolic taking (4/38) but there were far few overs for the Demons to chase an outright victory.

After only two wins in the 2014-15 season Dederang returns to the finals on the back of a seven win season and held top spot for a number of weeks.

They play away at Kiewa.
