Get in quick to ward off flu
WITH the onslaught of this year’s flu season edging ever closer, those at Standish Street Surgery are urging the public, particularly those most vulnerable to the effects of influenza, to organise their vaccination in the near future.
A free seasonal influenza vaccine has been funded for people in high risk groups, including:
- All children aged from six months to less than five years
Standish Street Surgery is a local, accredited, family oriented medical practice located in the heart of Myrtleford.
They boast modern and computerised facilities and pride themselves on encouraging continuing education and development for all their staff.
All doctors at Standish of age (this is the first year that the vaccine has been free for this age group);
- All individuals aged five years and over with medical risk conditions;
- All Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aged 15 years and over; - Pregnant women; and - People aged 65 years and over.
All people who are aged over six months and are not in any of the groups above can Street keep up to date with the latest medical treatments.
Doctors at the surgery are also active participants in training students and doctors for general practice.
Patients can call the practice by phone to make appointments. We have future plans for online appointment facility.
The vast range of services available at the practice includes hearing tests, im- book themselves in for the private influenza vaccine to help safeguard them against the current strains of the flu virus.
Standish Street Surgery’s Dr Simon Shute said it is most recommended by the health department to time their flu vaccinations for early May, and the clinic is now taking bookings.
