CHALLENGE: Marian College student Damien Caponecchia abseils during a camp at Mt Buffalo last month.

YEAR nine students from Marian College recently spent three days at Mt Buffalo on a community camp partly organised by themselves.

The camp was based at the Lake Catani campground and was designed to build a sense of community for students through group activities that aimed to foster personal growth through individual achievements, challenges and adversities.

Students also completed Outdoor Education fieldwork based around Mt Buffalo.

Trained staff from Tim Shaw’s Bright Adventure Company conducted specific activities including rock climbing, kayaking and abseiling.

Camp organiser Tony Cuskey said that students prepared well for the three-day trip.

“They were willing to attempt things outside their comfort zone and therefore found the three day camp rewarding and thoroughly enjoyed their achievements and successes,” he said.
