Wine industry given chance to grow following more government support
THE Alpine Shire’s strong wine industry will be given a chance to grow even further with the State Government last week announcing a third round of the Wine Growth Fund.
The Wine Growth Fund aims to develop and sustainably grow the wine industry in Victoria by providing innovative growers, organisations and projects with funding to build both domestic and international markets.
The program supports activities including marketing, exporting and tourism and business development.
The guidelines have been altered so infrastructure projects that attract significant investment and create new jobs are eligible for grants up to $100,000.
Similar projects have already created new jobs in the wine industry, generated an increase in visitation to Victoria’s wineries, and in- creased the sales and exports of Victorian wines.
The initiative adds on to the existing Australian Government Wine Tourism and Cellar Door Grant program where wine producers are eligible for up to $100,000 annually to optimise visitors’ experience at their cellar doors and to strengthen wine and tourism sectors.
Tourism Research Australia figures indicated that wine related tourism had increased by 12.5 percent since 201415.
Applications are open to businesses or organisations from all wine regions in Victoria directly involved in the wine industry, including the growing, making and marketing of wine.
