Dora McRae & Arthur Koulas
What are your jobs?
We are the new owners of Roma Pizzeria Kafe. I (Dora) am also a local nurse at the Standish Street Surgery and District Nursing. Arthur will be a chef here at the restaurant.
Have you mostly kept the same staff?
Yes 100 per cent, they were doing a fantastic job (already), as a family business we have got our kids now involved as well, they have been painting and stuff already.
Is it something you always wanted to do?
I (Dora) have had shops before and I always wanted to get back into it, we walked in here and fell in love with it. We were looking at fish and chips shops but we figured this was exactly what we wanted and we fought to get it.
What stands out about the place?
The atmosphere, it’s a very warm and friendly environment. It’s like a little mini restaurant and of course has a full license including out on the pathway.
What do you hope to add to the place?
We want to add a twist of Greek to the place, souvlaki’s will be coming soon and already we have a special traditional ‘Arthur and Dora’ Pizza. We will be making Greek pastas, Greek desserts, Greek donuts and of course also Parma’s and schnitzel’s and the like.
We are also going to be adding Greek and Italian music, functions and will open during the day Thursday, Friday and Saturday from lunch until late. Every other day will be 2pm until late. We hope to really make the most of the gelati bar through summer.
You must be so excited by it all?
Yes it’s very exciting, there’s so much scope. We are becoming a bit nervous about it all now after jumping around a few days ago but we are confident people will love the food and enjoy our new brand.
