Time is now to nom­i­nate for Alpine Shire Aus­tralia Day com­mu­nity awards

EACH year on Aus­tralia Day, the Alpine Shire Aus­tralia Day Com­mu­nity Awards are pre­sented to those per­sons in the Shire who make us proud to be a cit­i­zen of the Alpine Shire, and de­serve recog­ni­tion for their role in the com­mu­nity.

Nom­i­na­tions are now open for the 2019 Alpine Shire Aus­tralia Day Com­mu­nity Awards and Coun­cil is call­ing for all res­i­dents to nom­i­nate an in­di­vid­ual, or­gan­i­sa­tion or event.

The awards are pre­sented each year on Jan­uary 26 to recog­nise valu­able con­tri­bu­tions and achieve­ments by Alpine Shire res­i­dents in the fol­low­ing cat­e­gories:

Com­mu­nity Event of the Year; Com­mu­nity Or­gan­i­sa­tion of the Year; Lo­cal Achiever, and Lo­cal Young Achiever (un­der 25) of the Year awarded in Bright and District, Myrtle­ford and District, and Kiewa Val­ley.

An over­all Alpine Shire Cit­i­zen of the Year is awarded by the se­lec­tion panel from among the win­ners of the Lo­cal Achiever and Lo­cal Young Achiever of the Year awards.

Ad­di­tion­ally, an over­all Life­time Achieve­ment Award is awarded by the se­lec­tion panel where a long his­tory of out­stand­ing ser­vice to the Alpine Shire com­mu­nity has been demon­strated.

To be el­i­gi­ble, nom­i­nees must be Alpine Shire res­i­dents, how­ever where it can be shown that a non-Alpine Shire res­i­dent has made a sig­nif­i­cant con­tri­bu­tion to the Alpine Shire com­mu­nity, they may be con­sid­ered for the Lo­cal Achiever or Young Achiever of the Year awards only.

Nom­i­na­tions will be as­sessed ac­cord­ing to cri­te­ria avail­able on the Alpine Shire Coun­cil web­site at www.alpineshire.vic.gov.au/ aus­dayawards.

Nom­i­na­tion forms are avail­able on­line and must be sub­mit­ted by 5pm Fri­day, De­cem­ber 7.
