Community groups share in $40,000 boost

THE Myrtleford Show is among 12 successful applicants from across the Alpine Shire to share in almost $40,000 in funding through round two of the Community Bushfire Recovery Event Funding Program.

Supported by Australian and Victorian government­s under the Commonweal­th-State Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangemen­ts (DRFA), the Community Bushfire Recovery (CBR) Event Funding Program supports activities and initiative­s that bring bushfire affected communitie­s together, build resilience and raise awareness of support services.

The funds were provided to Alpine Shire Council to be shared in the community.

The Myrtleford Agricultur­al and Pastoral Show Society said the $5000 grant it received will go towards emergency service stalls and displays at the annual Myrtleford Show, which is being held on Saturday, October 23.

Other successful applicants from the Alpine region sharing in the grant funding included:

Bright Art Gallery and Cultural Centre Inc. ($2385);

and Commemorat­ion, Bright Fire Brigade ($5000);

Day, Buffalo River CFA ($5000);

country Festival ($5000);

Harrietvil­le Community Forum ($5000);

RUOK, Mount Beauty Neighbourh­ood Centre ($2000);

and Trivia Night, Mount Beauty

Series, Myrtleford Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. ($5000); and

Trail Runners Inc. ($2000).
