Public comment sought on draft economic development strategy

-

ALPINE residents are being invited to provide feedback on Alpine Shire Council’s draft economic development strategy.

Council manager of economic and community development, Elaine Burridge, said council is excited to share the draft strategy with the community.

“The draft strategy aims to help foster a healthy economy, thriving community and a sustainable region,” she said.

“It has been informed by independent research and analysis, as well as consultation with representatives of community groups, organisations, businesses and government stakeholders.”

Ms Burridge said the draft strategy focuses on ways to support businesses in key sectors such as tourism, agriculture, manufacturing, education and health.

“Making the most of what the Alpine Shire has to offer, the strategy also identifies ways to attract new businesses that are suited to the values and attributes of the shire and its unique communities,” she said.

The economic development strategy aims to provide strategic direction to foster a thriving and resilient local economy into the future.
