Katanning sale report
Numbers were down for a total yarding of 19,406 sheep at Katanning last Wednesday.
The quality of all classes was mixed with a large number of store lambs on offer.
Prices for prime lambs were up but store lambs fell considerably.
Heavyweight lambs in score three condition, made $130 to $147/ head to return 558c to 610c/kg cwt.
Trade-weight lambs in the 2022kg range made from $125 to $142/ head to return 576c to 640c/kg cwt.
Score 1 and 2 lightweight wether lambs made $41 to $117/head depending on frame and quality and crossbred lambs went to feeders and processors at $65 to $107/head with extremely poor drafts from making $5 to $55/head.
The best of the ram lambs sold to feeder buyers to $135/head and live export for $80/head.
Mutton prices were strong, with heavyweight ewes in the 24-30kg cwt range making from $90 to $126/ head, up by $2 to $10/head on last week, averaging from 320c to 415c/ kg cwt.
