Num­bers were down for a to­tal yard­ing of 19,406 sheep at Katan­ning last Wed­nes­day.

The qual­ity of all classes was mixed with a large num­ber of store lambs on of­fer.

Prices for prime lambs were up but store lambs fell con­sid­er­ably.

Heavy­weight lambs in score three con­di­tion, made $130 to $147/ head to re­turn 558c to 610c/kg cwt.

Trade-weight lambs in the 2022kg range made from $125 to $142/ head to re­turn 576c to 640c/kg cwt.

Score 1 and 2 light­weight wether lambs made $41 to $117/head de­pend­ing on frame and qual­ity and cross­bred lambs went to feed­ers and pro­ces­sors at $65 to $107/head with ex­tremely poor drafts from mak­ing $5 to $55/head.

The best of the ram lambs sold to feeder buyers to $135/head and live ex­port for $80/head.

Mut­ton prices were strong, with heavy­weight ewes in the 24-30kg cwt range mak­ing from $90 to $126/ head, up by $2 to $10/head on last week, av­er­ag­ing from 320c to 415c/ kg cwt.
