Wick­epin piled on eight firstquar­ter goals to set up a thump­ing 109-point win over Wa­gin on Sun­day.

It was Wick­epin’s sec­ond win of the year and kept them in touch with the top four, with the re­main­ing teams hav­ing a bye.

Dy­lan Ross booted six goals and Braden Smith slot­ted five in the 21.15 (141) to 4.8 (32) win at home.

Ryan Melvin kicked three while Trent O’Brien and Jamie Miller kicked two each.

Wick­epin dashed out to a 41point lead at quar­ter-time be­fore Wa­gin booted three goals to one in the sec­ond term to trim the mar­gin to 29 points at the main break.

How­ever, the game was quickly put be­yond doubt in the sec­ond half with Wick­pin slam­ming on 11 unan­swered goals as Wa­gin re­sponded with a soli­tary point.

Wa­gin have started the year with five straight losses and sit sec­ond­last in sev­enth, ahead by per­cent­age of Brook­ton-Pin­gelly.
