Ser­vice for Viet­nam Vet­er­ans Day

Nar­ro­gin’s RSL branch is call­ing on all mem­bers of the com­mu­nity, es­pe­cially those who have served in the armed forces, to at­tend their Viet­nam Vet­er­ans Day ser­vice this Satur­day, Au­gust 18.

Mem­bers of the com­mu­nity are asked to ar­rive at Me­mo­rial Park for 10.40 am — the Last Post will be played at 11am.

Aus­tralia fought in Viet­nam be­tween 1962 and 1972, the sec­ond long­est war Aus­tralia has been in­volved with af­ter the coun­try’s in­volve­ment in Afghanistan.

There were 521 Aus­tralians killed in the con­flict, while more than 3000 were in­jured.

Nar­ro­gin RSL pres­i­dent Reis Chat­til­long hoped to see a strong crowd at the ser­vice this year — which will re­mem­ber the 50th an­niver­sary of the Bat­tle of Co­ralBal­moral.
