Pin­gelly, Wa­gin claim pre­mier­ships

Pin­gelly have take out this year’s N&NDA A1 divi­sion pre­mier­ship, on Satur­day af­ter­noon, after dom­i­nat­ing the com­pe­ti­tion all sea­son.

Fac­ing a de­ter­mined Wil­liams side, Pin­gelly held the score­board ad­van­tage all game, go­ing into the first quar­ter with a handy 15-10 lead.

Wil­liams brought the deficit back in the sec­ond term, outscor­ing Pin­gelly by a sin­gle goal. The score­board read 27-23 at half-time.

Wil­liams and Pin­gelly matched each other in the third term, bring­ing the game to a four-point dif­fer­ence at the fi­nal break — 43-39 in Pin­gelly’s favour.

The match was brought to within a sin­gle goal in the fi­nal quar­ter, but Pin­gelly man­aged to break out to a 58-50 lead at the end of play.

Pin­gelly’s Alex Hodges was named best and fairest for the match.

In the A2 divi­sion 1, Wa­gin 2 took on Olympics Turquoise.

In an up­set vic­tory, Wa­gin 2 cruised to a con­vinc­ing win and were never re­ally chal­lenged at any breaks.

They led 13-5 at the end of the first, 25-11 at half-time and held a big 42-24 lead go­ing into the fi­nal term.

They fin­ished the match pre­miers with a 59-37 vic­tory.

Kristy Ball from Wa­gin was voted best and fairest.

Waves 2 and Wa­gin 4 had a thrilling en­counter in the A2 divi­sion 2 grand fi­nal.

The score was tied at 9-9 at the end of the first quar­ter, and Waves 2 came out hard in the sec­ond, scor­ing five unan­swered goals.

How­ever, Wa­gin 4 pegged it back, bring­ing Waves’ lead back to 21-18.

Wa­gin 4 outscored Waves 2 by a sin­gle goal in third, giv­ing Waves 2 a 31-29 ad­van­tage go­ing into the last quar­ter.

Still fighting back in the last quar­ter, Wa­gin 4 could not get over the line.

Waves 2 held on to a thrilling 4241 vic­tory. Wa­gin 4’s Mandy Har­ring­ton was named best and fairest.

Wa­gin 2 took out the A2 divi­sion 1 ti­tle.
