The most re­cent strain of Rab­bit haem­or­rhagic dis­ease (RHD) is be­ing spread across the coun­try in or­der to help con­trol wild rab­bits & to min­imise the ex­ten­sive en­vi­ron­men­tal and agri­cul­tural dam­age be­ing caused. In Aus­tralia, wild Rab­bits cur­rently threaten the sur­vival of more than 300 na­tive species! The lat­est strain known as the Korean strain or K5 was found to be more in­fec­tious than the pre­vi­ous strain. All rab­bit own­ers are ad­vised to en­sure their rab­bits are vac­ci­nated!!

THERE IS NO CURE TO RHDV1-K5, SO RE­MEM­BER TO GET YOUR PET BUNNIES VAC­CI­NATED!

Talk to your vet for fur­ther in­for­ma­tion on vac­ci­nat­ing your pet rab­bits, & other mea­sures to pre­vent dis­ease. A num­ber of re­leases will be tak­ing place lo­cally, dif­fer­ent groups will be pro­mot­ing & help­ing fa­cil­i­tate the spread of K5. While this is hap­pen­ing, please make sure that your pets are vac­ci­nated! Wa­gin Woodanilling Land­care Zone will be par­tic­i­paing in the re­lease this sea­son, and we want to make sure that rab­bit own­ers are aware of the po­ten­tial dan­ger to pet bunnies
