Every year an in­ter­na­tional skulk of art lovers, cu­ra­tors, artists and col­lec­tors de­scend upon the sun drenched streets of Mi­ami, Florida to con­sume the bright­est, big­gest and bold­est of the in­ter­na­tional art elite. With 73,000 in­ter­na­tional vis­i­tors fever­ishly de­vour­ing every­thing that Art Basel Mi­ami Beach has to of­fer through its myr­iad of satel­lite fairs, sideshows and par­ties, one doesn’t have to look far to get a sense of how im­por­tant the event is in the pre­sen­ta­tion and canon­i­sa­tion of con­tem­po­rary and mod­ern art. From the no­to­ri­ous to the lit­tle-known, the 2014 ex­hi­bi­tions were or­gan­ised into eight ma­jor sec­tors: Gal­leries, Nova, Edi­tion, Po­si­tions, Kabi­nett, Magazine, Pub­lic and Film, em­pha­sis­ing the in­ter­sec­tion­al­ity of the visual arts. Neue Lux­ury packed light and brought home some of the high­lights.
