8. THE BLACK DAHLIA HOLLYWOOD HORROR STORY

The shocking 1947 murder of Elizabeth Short – known as the Black Dahlia – sparked a string of movies and TV specials, due to the gruesome nature of the ‘ritual cult’ crime. The 22-year-old victim’s body was found severed at the waist, drained of blood and posed in a unique position.

Due to the intense publicity in Hollywood over the crime, more than 60 people claimed responsibility for the murder – but no-one has ever been charged.
