9. FAMILY SLAIN BRUTAL CABIN KILLINGS
In 2008, Liv Tyler starred in The Strangers, a film said to be inspired by the unsolved Keddie murders – a case where three members of a family, as well as their friend, were tortured and murdered in a remote cabin.
The gruesome crime unfolded after Sue Sharp, 36, rented a cabin in Keddie, California, with her children in November 1980.
Six months later, her daughter Sheila, 14, returned from a sleepover to find her mother, brother John, 15, and friend Dana all murdered. Her 12-year-old sister Tina’s remains were found three years later in a shallow grave more than 100km away.
