Ever since he was a child, Mat wanted to be an actor.

‘I was misguided,’ laughs the 48-year-old, who shot to fame playing intelligent, good-looking larrikin Adam Cameron (above, with co-star Dannii Minogue) from June 1989 until 1994.

Mat was deeply affected by the death of his father, who passed away only two days before his 21st birthday, and admits he struggled to find his way in the years that followed.

‘You’ll never succeed as an actor unless you give it 150 per cent, and at that time, I couldn’t,’ says the dad-of-two and White Ribbon ambassador, who now works investigating identity theft, and is hoping to reignite his acting career.
