L ooking radiant doesn’t have to mean extreme treatments – try these products to refresh your look... SAVE YOUR FACE CLEAN, CLEAR AND PROTECT Cleanse in the morning, then double cleanse at night to remove all traces of make-up and the day’s impurities. Wear a sunscreen daily and reapply it frequently throughout the day. Avon Anew Retroactive Youth Extending Cleanser (a), $12. GET A HYDRATION HIT Dehydration dulls the skin and creates fine lines around the eyes, cheeks and mouth. ‘Apply hydrating masks or serums that contain hyaluronic acid. They are great for plumping up thirsty skin,’ says Emma Hobson, education manager for the International Dermal Institute and Dermalogica. Dermalogica Pure Light SPF50 (b), $97. PREP AND PRIME Glow with a luminous primer. ‘They add sheen, hydration and an all-round glow,’ says make-up guru Napoleon Perdis. Apply before foundation. Napoleon Perdis Auto Pilot Bronzing Skin Primer (c), $45. FILL IN THE GAPS UV exposure, pollution and stress are some of the reasons wrinkles develop. Try siliconebased products that fill fine lines or ‘blur’ the skin. ‘Products with antioxidants and vitamins help stimulate collagen and elastin, plump and rejuvenate the skin and reduce wrinkle depth,’ Emma says. Indeed Laboratories Nanoblur (d), $29.99. REFRESH YOUR BODY NOURISH HANDS AND FEET Try a monthly pedicure, or gently scrub dry, cracked heels in the shower, then moisturise. Extreme exposure to the environment daily means hands need regular TLC. Apply an SPF daily to reduce pigmentation. Alpha-h Protection Plus Hand Cream SPF50+ (e), $59.95. THE CLASSIC ANTI-AGER One of the best and most cost-effective ways to reduce the ageing process is exfoliating! This all-over body must-do gets rid of dead skin cells that make skin look older. Spongelle Ginger Bergamot Body Wash Infused Buffer (f), $20. WATCH WHERE YOU SPRITZ ‘Applying fragrance directly to the skin causes photoageing pigmentation, [which] reflects the appearance of ageing,’ warns Emma. Always spritz your fragrance away from areas such as neck and decolletage. MASTER YOUR MAKE-UP GET OUT OF YOUR RUT If you’re still using the same make-up products and techniques after 10 or 20 years, it could be ageing you. ‘Avoid using anything with a pastel or pearly texture, as these can emphasise fine lines and look a little dated,’ Napoleon advises. USE CONCEALER WELL To hide eye circles, dab concealer between the inner corner of the eye and nose – it helps brighten the area. If you have more time: ‘Apply concealer all over the eyelid then set with a little powder. This will ensure your shadow stays crease-free and helps even out skintone and texture,’ Napoleon adds. Napoleon Perdis Pro Palette Conceal and Correct (g), $60. GO FOR BLUSH As we age, fat pads in our cheeks start to drop. ‘Blushes with a hint of sheen give the skin a little glow and a radiant lift,’ Napoleon says. Apply with a domed fluffy blush brush on the apples of your cheeks, sweeping up towards your hairline. SHAPE YOUR BROWS ‘Brows are crucial in framing our face. The wrong brows can age you,’

says celebrity brow expert Sharon Lee. Brows get sparse and coarse as we age, so don’t over-pluck – but if you have, Sharon advises filling them in with a shade lighter than you think is right for you. She-she Eyeshadow Compact (h), $60. FAKE AN EYELIFT Use skin-strengthening eye creams to lift and tone your lids, or try this quick trick. ‘Sweep a matte taupe shade onto the eyelid, blending just past the crease. Use with a matte chocolate-brown shadow applied as eye liner, and add lengthening mascara to open up the eye,’ Napoleon says. Dermalogica Stress Positive Eye Lift (i), $95. REFRESH YOUR HAIR BRIGHTEN WITH HIGHLIGHTS ‘Working with warm tones like caramels, toffees and mochas give hair the vibrancy it needs to look less washed-out and flat, which can be ageing,’ says colourist Rochelle Boidin at Prema salon. EMBRACE YOUR GREYS ‘I believe that the best way to maintain grey hair is to work with it rather than against it,’ Rochelle says. ‘Rather than covering grey hair completely, try a demi-permanent colour. They cover up to 75 per cent of grey hairs, allowing them to blend in easily, and help create a softer, more manageable colour.’ Goldwell Professional Colorance Soft Color (j), $23.45. ADD A FRINGE A quick and easy way to cover wrinkles is to get your stylist to incorporate a fringe. Try a soft, wispy, layered fringe or side part for length and thickness. TRY A THICKENER Hair gets thinner as we age. Years of blow-drying, colouring and using heat-activated tools causes breakage. ‘A blunt and strong cut is the best way to combat this,’ says Pantene hair ambassador Remington Schulz. Restore hair with products that put the moisture back in and protect against UV damage. Pantene Pro-vitamin 3 Minute Miracle Daily Moisture Renewal Conditioner (k), $6.99.
