The Voice shock walkout
THE FEUD BETWEEN SEAL AND BOY GEORGE ERUPTS BEHIND THE SCENES
It’s the coach confrontation no-one saw coming on this season of The Voice.
As Boy George and Seal’s disdain for each other becomes clearer onscreen, New Idea can exclusively reveal that things were even worse when the cameras stopped rolling.
In a moment that won’t be shown on TV, the former Culture Club frontman’s frustration explodes after a spat over a contestant, and he storms off stage threatening to quit.
‘I’ve gotta go,’ George says angrily, exiting his big red chair as soon as he is off-camera.
Walking from the stage in a huff, a studio audience member witnessed the 55-year-old have an angry conversation with manager and close friend Paul ‘PK’ Kemsley.
‘George covered his microphone so producers couldn’t hear what he was saying about Seal,’ the source says.
‘It was so awkward, everyone was pretending like it was a break in filming, but you could see the producers having crisis talks on the side of the stage.
‘We really thought Boy George wasn’t going to come back.’
Finally returning to the stage for the next blind audition, the sassy star refused to even look in Seal’s direction. However, when questioned by New Idea about his feud with George, the Kiss From A Rose singer dismisses the idea of tension.
‘Really? I don’t know. I wasn’t aware there was any tension,’ Seal stammers defensively, before one of his assistants chimes in to quell the awkwardness, saying: ‘Everyone is just really competitive.’
Even fellow newcomer Kelly Rowland admits to the strange vibe coming from Seal.
‘Me and George look at each other like: “Here we go,”’ she said on the show.
The audience member claims that after their fight, George and Seal totally ignored each other, except to shoot down ideas.
‘If any of the other coaches got up and went to talk to Boy George, Seal would just sit in his chair and sulk,’ the insider reveals.
‘The only time they ever spoke was to fight over a contestant. Things got pretty heated – it was awkward for the auditioning singers because they just had to stand there and watch as they bickered!’
Contestant Annalisse Walker copped the brunt of the brawl as the lads sniped at each other.
‘I don’t know what to say after that,’ George said after Seal’s pitch, only for his rival coach to interrupt.
George was quick to react to him, snapping: ‘I wasn’t finished, babe!’ An angry Seal waved George off, saying: ‘You can continue after, George, just hold tight.’
Clearly unimpressed when Annalisse went on to choose Seal, the flamboyant performer muttered to himself: ‘Oh my God, what a tirade.
‘I may have to react and just say: “Can you just stop going on,”’ George adds to the camera.
As their teams begin to fill up, our on-set insider says tensions will only rise further.
‘They’re both so competitive,’ the source asserts.
‘And now it’s personal. Neither of them want the other to win so they’ll do anything to get the best artists and the strongest team. It’s going to be a bloodbath.’
