QI dreamt my friend, who I hadn’t seen for ages, announced he and partner were moving to England after securing a successful work contract. I was heartbroken about his forthcoming absence. I haven’t been able to contact him, but I heard he was very sick. That was my last dream. What does it mean?

ADreams fall into specific categories, such as problemsolving, emotional resolution and, of course, prophetic. Many ‘deja vu’ moments are actually recollections of prophetic dreams. If your friend is indeed very unwell you may be picking up on his inevitable passing. On the other hand, your subconscious mind may be reminding you that it is time to ‘move on’ with your own life. Letting go of a loved one and letting go of our past are not dissimilar. Both take courage and faith that the future will still be bright, despite the challenges it brings.

QMy mum passed away a few months ago and I keep dreaming of her falling over. She suffered a lot in her lifetime. Is she at peace now? I don’t feel her around me and that makes me sad.

AThe loss of a mother is a life-changing experience. We become the new matriarch of our own family/life and thus can feel the passing of the parent is also a loss of support. Your dream appears to be linked to this aspect of self-concern. While you view it as your mum falling, the fear is actually related to yourself. I feel your mother is both at peace and around you. Look for the little signs and remember to speak to her out loud—if she wasn’t a mind-reader before her passing, then she certainly isn’t one now.
