AUSTRALIA’S MISSING CHILDREN
BRONTE & ISABELLA WATTER
It’s been over three years since Queensland twins Bronte and Isabella Watter vanished without a trace from their school. The twins’ mother Catherine Lee Watter – also known as Cassie – has been accused of abducting the girls, who were then aged seven, from Hermit Park State School in Townsville on April 4, 2014.
Her car was later found with the girls’ schoolbags still inside.
Their father Michael, who has legal custody of the twins, has said: ‘We’ve haven’t had the sort of information that puts them anywhere specific and... they could be anywhere.
‘Overseas is a possibility, but I’m not really sure.
‘We do still have people coming forward with potential sightings. It’s not just about recognising the girls, it’s about taking that next step and calling and reporting it.’
Michael worries that his daughters most likely have no access to schooling, friends
their own age or even healthcare.
He stated that Cassie is also most likely being protected by a network of ‘misguided supporters’.
In April 2014, a court issued a recovery notice for the girls and police appealed for information from the public, but no firm information about their whereabouts was revealed.
Earlier this year, computer generated images were released by the police, depicting what Bronte and Isabella, now 10, might look like today.
Michael says seeing the new pictures of his daughters reminded him that he had gone three years without knowing what happened to them or where they were.
‘It’s getting to the point now where I don’t really know my children,’ he told a press conference. ‘I don’t really know what I could buy them, ’cause I don’t really know what they like now and it’s been a long time.’
