Brad gets set to be a dad – again
THE ACTOR AND HIS GIRLFRIEND HAVE A SECRET TO SHARE
Just one year after his shock divorce from Angelina Jolie, it looks like Brad Pitt is set to become a dad again. Sources tell New Idea that he and new girlfriend Charlotte Casiraghi – the daughter of Princess Caroline and ninth in line to the throne of Monaco – are desperately trying for a baby, as their relationship goes from strength to strength.
The pair fell in love in September, before debuting their romance at a Hollywood event in LA last month. Even though Brad has been careful not to be photographed with his new love while his divorce settlement is still before the courts, sources tell New Idea that he’s ‘totally head over heels’ for new love Charlotte – so much so, they’re now planning a royal baby.
‘Charlotte already has a young son with her former partner and would love another baby, a sibling for little Raphael,’ says a source. ‘Brad loves being a dad and would love another baby. With everything that’s happened with Angelina and the messy custody battle over their six kids, it’s made him realise more than ever how much he enjoys having children around and how much he misses having little people running about.
‘He told Charlotte he’d love to have a baby with her and they are busy trying to fall pregnant. Brad doesn’t care that it’s pretty soon in their relationship – he feels like Charlotte and he are meant to be, and he can really see a long and happy future with her.’
Charlotte – who’s been described as ‘the best mother in the world’ and ‘generous and loving’ – split from her former partner Gad Elmaleh in 2015 when Raphael was just two. But now that the royal toddler is four, sources say Charlotte is keen to have baby number two.
‘Charlotte really loves being a mum, her whole world is Raphael,’ says the insider. ‘Since meeting Brad, she’s been thinking that she’d love a sibling for Raphael – who would love a little play friend. She’s always been one for breaking away from royal protocol – she never married Raphael’s father, which caused all sorts of headlines when she fell pregnant.
‘But she didn’t care then and she doesn’t care now. She loves Brad and thinks he will be an amazing father.’
Brad and Charlotte – the granddaughter of the late Grace Kelly – met through mutual friends several months ago, with sources confirming that they were introduced by Brad’s Allied co-star Marion Cotillard. It’s believed the French actress and the Monaco royal are close friends, and Marion was keen to introduce them to one another after seeing the terrible pain that Brad’s marriage breakdown had caused him.
‘Once a respectable amount of time passed after Brad and Ange’s split, Marion suggested meeting Charlotte,’ a source revealed in November. ‘Charlotte split from her partner two years ago and has been shy about dating again – but Brad really charmed her.
‘Brad loves Monaco and has been there many times over the years. It’s no surprise that he’s so taken by Charlotte – she’s beautiful, smart, is worldly and has the history of one of the greatest royal dynasties behind her. She’s enchanting to Brad.’
Brad, meanwhile, is just as taken with 31-year-old Charlotte – who’s been likened to a young Angelina – and is said to be desperate to have another child. The 53-year-old actor has made no secret of the joy that fatherhood has brought him, describing children as ‘an essential part of my life’.
‘I feel like the richest man alive since I’ve become a father,’ he told Psychologies magazine. ‘Being a father has changed me on so many levels and made me more generous and alive.
‘I see my children as an essential part of my life, and it means so much to be able to educate them and help them make their way in the world as they grow up. I love being a father and all the responsibilities that entails.’
