MARGOT ROBBIE ‘SOMETIMES I’LL HAVE A MELTDOWN’

THE AUSSIE ACTRESS REVEALS THE UPS AND DOWNS OF RUNNING HER OWN BUSINESS

Margot Robbie first burst onto our screens in Neighbours, but fast forward 10 years and she has taken Hollywood by storm. After her breakout role in The Wolf Of Wall Street, Margot has had a steady string of films from indie flick Z For Zachariah to blockbuster Suicide Squad.

But Margot wanted more, and she is now running her own production company, Luckychap.

Margot runs the production company with her husband Tom Ackerley and two friends, Josey Mcnamara and Sophia Kerr.

‘A lot of people cautioned us against starting a company with our friends,’ Margot previously told Vogue. ‘But I guess we’re one of the exceptions to the rule, because we’re still all the best of friends and we love working together.’

They certainly make a good team, and one of their first films, I, Tonya, was nominated for several Oscars – with Allison Janney taking home the gong for Best Supporting Actress.

Of course, running your own company can be challenging at times.

‘It’s hard, I’m sure a tonne of people reading this have their own business, and it’s so hard. Having a business is stressful and time-consuming, but it’s incredibly rewarding,’ she says. ‘There are obviously a lot of times where I’ll have a meltdown and go: “I can’t do it any more.”’

But, she wouldn’t have it any other way: ‘I’ve got absolutely no regrets, every experience has been incredible, characterbuilding and career-shaping.’

Despite the company keeping her busy, Margot still makes time to star in films, and her recent Oscar nomination for Best Actress in I, Tonya made her more in demand than ever.

Her next film, however, is a bit of a departure for her, as she tries her hand as a voice actor in the upcoming children’s classic, Peter Rabbit.

‘It was a new process for me,’ Margot, who voices Flopsy Rabbit, told Parade. ‘It’s kind of liberating being the voice of an animated character, where you can concentrate on the voice as opposed to your physical actions.’

Peter Rabbit (James Corden) and his sisters enjoy their days in Mr Mcgregor’s (Sam Neill) vegetable patch, but when one of his relatives Thomas (Domhnall Gleeson) moves in, he’s not impressed to discover the rabbits in his yard. Thomas tries to get rid of Peter, but the rabbits won’t leave without a fight.

Peter Rabbit will be the third film Margot has starred in with Domhnall. They also appeared in About Time and Goodbye Christopher Robin.

‘It was also nice to be in a film with Domhnall again,’ Margot spilled. ‘I’ve always enjoyed – so much – seeing Domhnall’s physical comedy.’
