Fifi’s Neighbour- ly proposal
COULD WEDDING BELLS BE RINGING FOR THE RADIO STAR AND HER ACTOR BEAU?
Fifi Box’s romance with Neighbours co-star Damien Richardson is going from strength to strength, with the TV and radio star now steeling herself for a romantic proposal.
Regaling her co-stars on her breakfast show with a tale from her ‘date weekend’ with Damien, Fifi revealed the pair shared a ‘proposal moment’ at a cafe that overlooks a dairy farm in the scenic Yarra Valley.
‘It was this beautiful moment. This bustling cafe where we were looking over at the cows and there were some goats grazing on the lawn... [and] out of nowhere he just said, “I really love you, Fi,”’ she recalls.
‘And my heart swelled and I looked at him and got a little bit teary and went in to give him a kiss... it was poignant.’
However, despite revealing she ‘wished’ it was a proposal, she said what ‘could have been an incredibly romantic moment’ turned out to be a complete misunderstanding.
‘He was not comfortable with me getting a bit gushy with him,’ said Fifi.
‘And I said: “Well you just said you loved me,” and he goes: “No, I said I really love coffee.”’
Now feeling comfortable in the relationship and her future with Damien, Fifi’s candid confession is a far cry from the secretive nature of their relationship early on.
Refusing to comment on the dating rumours for almost a year, Fifi finally went public with her feelings of love for the divorced father-of-three in November last year.
‘I am really happy at the moment and fortunately off the dating scene,’ she said.
‘OUT O F NOWHERE HE JUST SAID: “I REALLY LOVE YOU, FI”’
‘I am happy in my relationship, I am loving my job, but more than anything my absolute priority is [fouryear-old daughter] Trixie.’
Meeting on the set of the Aussie soap Neighbours while the 41-year-old was making a guest appearance in 2016, Fifi said her chemistry with Damien, 48, took her by surprise.
‘Any of my relationships, they have snuck up on me or they spring into your life and you go, “Wow, I did not see that coming.”’
And while the duo are now clearly ensconced in a loving relationship, their romance has not been without drama – with Damien still finalising his divorce from wife Nicole when he and Fifi first met.
Publicly breaking down in tears when asked about her ex-husband’s romance, Nicole revealed the news was ‘difficult to deal with’.
Now navigating life together as a blended family, the couple have been spotted enjoying quality family time with Trixie – who Fifi shares with ex Grant Kenny – and Damien’s children Maisie, Lottie and Albert, including enjoying a family holiday to Phillip Island at the end of last year, where onlookers said Fifi seemed to be ‘beaming’ and ‘having an amazing time with Damien and all the kids together’.
And while Fifi eagerly awaits her actual proposal moment, it appears the duo are all but living the life of a happily married couple.
‘We ate Indian takeaway in bed and watched Netflix. Already I’m going this is it, this is everything I’ve ever wanted,’ says Fifi of her day-to-day life with Damien.
‘And then he went and got the chocolate... I looked at him... and thought: “I think you’re the man for me!”’
Indeed, with all those cosy nights in and happy family holidays, Fifi says that she has never been happier.
‘I like him very, very, very, very, very much,’ she gushes. ‘He’s everything I wanted.’
